A Glimpse

Today Ava was a bit frustrated at me for not letting her have anymore "food that comes from cows." (Her exact words.) She got so frustrated in fact, that she went off on me in Spanish. I did not know whether or not to be offended or proud. She also often corrects my pronunciation of Spanish words when I am helping her with her homework. I guess my accent sucks. The program she is in is absolutely amazing and I am blown away at everything she has learned so far.

Art

Every year Ava's school has an art show. I was blown away by the kids work. It was truly amazing. The auditorium was transformed into an amazing gallery and the beauty that the kids created was unbelievable. The photos I took do not do the work justice. Here is a tiny glimpse.

Miss Ava

Miss Ava is having a bit of an emotional time. She hates her shoes and socks. Well, mostly she hates her socks, but she won't wear her Vans without socks. She does not like the way they make her feet feel and they bother her toes. She hates her panties and leggings. She says her panties give her a wedgie (thanks Iris for that- ha ha!) She is also very dramatic and will just start crying at any little thing. Everything we do lately comes with some drama.

I have been going over and over the past week in my head trying to figure out what is going on in that sweet little head of hers. I finally think I figured it out. She is five! And, sometimes being 5 and adjusting to kindergarten, or anything new for that matter, is hard. She is tired after spending all day everyday in school. She misses me and her little sis. She often tells me she wants to be "out doing fun things with me and Maya." She misses our trips to Costco, TJ's, the Y and all the other little things we used to do.

I kept her home on Friday and her and Maya played all day long. They went to the library and checked out books. We read all the books about five times and that evening we spent the night hanging out as a family. We watched a movie, read the library books again and snuggled on the couch in front of our first fire of the year. I think it was a day much needed for everyone.

Today getting ready for school was a breeze. I think an extra day of rest was just what Ava needed.

Stingaree

Saturday night J and I went out downtown to the Stingaree. I was hesitant to go because we went once before and I didn't have a great time, but I decided to give it another shot and it was really fun. We had dinner with friend and then moved upstairs to the VIP room and got the royal treatment. They played great music and I danced like I haven't danced in years! It was a really fun night!

I cut my hair, it is short and I love it! I have not loved my hair this much in a long, long time! Here it is...
